As a final project in the bachelor at the University of Applied Sciences St. Pölten a 3D projection mapping of the monastery Herzogenburg was created.
To generate a 3D model of the monastery 200 single images were taken from different positions. With the photogrammetry software Reality Capture a 3D model with texture was calculated. This model was imported into Cinema 4D where it was modified and animated in various ways. To match the position of the projector and the virtual camera a “Structured Light Scan” was performed. This way the result fits exactly to the building again and creates a believable illusion.
